Kottayam Archdiocese says allegations in Abhaya case are unbelievable. The CBI respects the court order. Defendants have the right to appeal and to prove their innocence.The church regrets such a situation.
Defendants in Sister Abhaya murder case get life sentence. Fr. Thomas Kottur was sentenced to double life imprisonment and Sister Sefiq to life imprisonment for murder. Fr. Thomas Kottur was fined Rs 6.5 lakh and Sister Sefi Rs 5.50 lakh. The Thiruvananthapuram CBI court also ordered that the convicts should be sentenced together.
