Hotels with a reservation rate of more than 50% said, “I am unsure about what criteria to cancel a reservation right now.”

Hotels with more than 50% reservation rates during the peak seasons of Christmas and the year-end/early year are forced to cancel the excess reservation. The problem is that the standards are ambiguous. Lotte Hotel, which operates Signiel Seoul, has decided to cancel the reservation or postpone the date from the last customer who applied for a reservation. A Lotte Hotel official said, “The related department is calling for cancellation, but fortunately everyone understands it.”

There are also places waiting for customers to cancel first. An official at Hotel Shilla said, “Except for Christmas, there are not many days reserved for more than 50% (the number of new confirmed cases increases), and the amount of natural cancellation is expected.” Said. An official in the hotel industry said, “Since there were more than 1,000 new confirmed cases, there were many customers asking for cancellation of reservations,” and “It is expected that the number of customers canceling due to this government announcement will increase.”

Hanwha Hotels & Resorts is reconfirming the stay by sending a text message to the reservation. An official at Hanwha Hotels said, “We conducted a full survey of hotels and resorts across the country and selected places with a reservation rate of 50% or more, and sent a text message according to the government guidelines. He said, “I decided that it would be against fairness to pick someone out and cancel it,” he said.

There were also complaints about the government’s sudden announcement. A hotel industry official said, “I saw the news and learned the government announcement,” and said, “I received a reservation without knowing anything, but if I knew it, I would have restricted the use of the room without taking a reservation.” It is pointed out that confusion would have been reduced if the government had communicated with related industries before issuing the executive order. “At the end of the year, hotel package products are sold in a variety of configurations, but this year, considering the corona situation, we are glad to have prepared a small non-face-to-face package,” a self-help response also came out.

Ski resorts are even more gloomy. Ski resorts also allow up to 50% of accommodation, but this is because the ski resort has been designated as a banned facility. An official at a ski resort said, “There will be no customers coming to stay at a ski resort just to stay,” he said. “It is embarrassing that sales during the high season in winter influence the performance of the year.”
