How governments promote vaccination readiness

The scientific sensation of the rapid availability of a Covid-19 vaccine is of little use if the willingness to vaccinate is low. Governments therefore need a strategy that does not rely solely on official information.

A few days before her 91st birthday, British Margaret Keenan became a celebrity. The pictures of how she was the first person in the Western Hemisphere to be vaccinated against the coronavirus outside of a clinical trial at Coventry University Hospital went around the world. She feels privileged, said the grandmother, who is dressed in a Christmas T-shirt. She was alone most of the year and is now looking forward to seeing her family and friends again soon.
