In accordance with the provisions of the Federal Office of Public Health BAG, the Winterthur sports facilities are closed with immediate effect and probably until January 22, 2021.
Exceptions are regulations for children and young people up to their 16th birthday as well as for top-class sport. These exceptions have been explicitly determined by the federal government and the cantons in order to enable children and young people to exercise and play despite the pandemic situation.
Geiselweid indoor and outdoor pools
The Geiselweid indoor pool remains open for children and young people from their 8th birthday to their 16th birthday. An ID (ID or student ID) must be presented to enter. The children and adolescents have to enter the facility independently, i.e. without being accompanied by parents or other adults, on their own responsibility. Accompanying persons are not permitted for epidemiological reasons. These provisions also correspond to the current house rules, according to which children under 8 years of age are not allowed to enter the facility for safety reasons without being accompanied by an adult. The opening times and the number of people restricted according to the Sports Office website apply.
Deutweg ice rink
The outdoor fields of the ice rink remain open to children and young people up to their 16th birthday. Here, too, an ID (ID or student ID) must be presented for entry. Parents are allowed to accompany their small children (maximum 1 accompanying person), but not take part in the sports activities. The opening times and the number of people restricted according to the website apply. The number of visitors is limited depending on the number of open ice fields. In contrast to the indoor pool, the ice operation takes place exclusively outdoors. In addition, all persons aged 12 and over must wear a mask. For this reason, in contrast to the indoor pool, few adults are allowed to accompany them.
Individual athletes
The outdoor sports facilities remain open for individual sports. Group training sessions of up to five people are permitted if a face mask is worn or the required distance is maintained.
Sportpass subscriptions
The city will decide at the beginning of 2021 on any retroactive sports pass fee waiver due to the restricted use of the sports facilities during the period of partial or full closures.
