Mérida City Council »The City Council continues to support universal accessibility with the installation of a changing table for adults
As of today is A space is available for people with great support needs to meet their hygiene needs in a dignified way. This space is prepared to carry out diaper changes for adults and has a stretcher and a crane located in the adapted toilet on the 3rd floor of the Alcazaba Cultural Center.
At present people with great hygiene support needs are severely limited in their participation in events and commercial life in the city not having adequate space to carry out their hygiene, if necessary, reaching the point of avoiding exits or making changes in unsanitary or inappropriate places, such as the floor.
The Delegate for Functional Diversity and Inclusion, Susana Fajardo, highlights that “this government team, aware of this need and taking a further step towards making Mérida a city for all people, enables this space with the aim that people who need it can have it, thus facilitating participation in the cultural, administrative and commercial life of the city”.
With this performance, the Alcazaba Cultural Center, which already had a toilet for coloctomized patients and adapted toilets, complements its adapted hygiene spaces, one more step in the different adaptations that this government team is carrying out since 2015 and a line in which we will continue working to make municipal spaces universally accessible with the aim of advancing towards full citizenship for all people.
He Alcazaba Cultural Center is open from Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m., in addition to special opening hours for scheduled events.
