This should be the team; Gambhir announces squad for Melbourne Test

Melbourne: Former India captain Gautam Gambhir has asked what the Indian team should look like in the second Test against Australia. Gambhir says five bowlers should be included. The absence of captain Virat Kohli and pacer Mohammad Shami in the second Test will be a headache for the team. Gambhir has been dropped from the squad for the first Test.

Gambhir is of the opinion that Prithviraj Shah should be released as everyone expected. Shubhman Gill is the opener along with Mayank Agarwal. Cheteshwar Pujara will be at number three. Pujara is number three. In fourth place will be Ajinkya Rahane in the absence of Kohli. Then KL Rahul reached the crease. This is Rahane’s permanent position. Rahul will replace Kohli who has returned home.

Gambhir considered Rishabh Pant as the number six wicket-keeper instead of Saha. Hanuma Vihari will be replaced by all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja at number seven. R Ashwin at number eight. While Jaspreet Bumra and Umesh Yadav will retain their place as pacers, Navdeep Saini or Mohammad Sirajo will replace Mohammad Shami. Gambhir clarified.

Gambhir’s team: Mayank Agarwal, Shubhman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Jaspreet Bumra, Mohammad Siraj / Navdeep Saini.
