Thiruvananthapuram: Following a medical examination, the accused, Father Thomas Kottur and Sister Sefi, were transferred to jail. Sefi was shifted to Attakkulangara Women’s Jail and Kottur to Poojappura Central Jail. In the medical examination conducted at the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College, the result of the Kovid test of both was negative.
The verdict in the case will come tomorrow. Thomas Kottur reiterated his innocence after being found guilty in an asylum case. Father Kottur’s response was that he had not committed any crime and that everything would go according to God’s plan. Sister Sefi declined to comment on the court ruling. Sefi burst into tears when he heard the verdict when Thomas Kottur was not in the courtroom.
Meanwhile, police have beefed up security at the Klanaya Sabha headquarters in Kottayam in the wake of the court verdict in the Abhaya case. The church leadership is yet to comment on the verdict. It is expected that there will be an official response from the church in the afternoon.
