If you ask around children of kindergarten and elementary school age, the career aspirations are in many cases identical, especially for boys. They are related to cool uniforms, heavy cars and construction vehicles, a job high above the clouds or even a flight through space.
Children have a lot of imagination that, unfortunately, as an adult, you are often no longer given. They can imagine things that will make you shake your head. But be careful and allow your child the imagination, no matter how obscure the career aspiration may be.
You can only raise your child to think and act independently if you give your child the creative freedom of their own dreams. Simply live the dream and put yourself in the shoes of your childhood, when you certainly wanted to become a fireman, police officer or astronaut.
There is a simple reason that children’s career aspirations change as they grow up. The perspective changes and sometimes it is simply the possibilities, such as external influences, that stand in the way of the imagination.
If you want to do your child a favor and encourage their ease in adulthood, always listen carefully and never laugh, no matter how bizarre a career aspiration or idea may seem. Our little ones need the appreciation and the feeling of being taken seriously.
