José Luis Gutiérrez Aranguren is the heir to the valuable art collection of Rosario Porto. As reported by the TVG yesterday, Asunta’s mother and murderer would have decided to bequeath to the lawyer who defended her in the trial for the girl’s crime, and who accompanied her in recent years, the numerous artistic works she received from her parents. It is, people from the Porto Ortega environment report, a set of first-rate pieces, some signed by renowned authors, and that would reach high figures in the market. Many were acquired knowingly by Socorro Ortega, Charo’s mother, who for many years was a professor of Art History at the University of Santiago. Paintings by Laxeiro, Castelao and other prestigious Galician and Spanish artists make up the collection.
However, Aranguren has already announced that he will renounce the inheritance, as EL CORREO advanced exclusively last Sunday. It will do so, mainly, for “ethical and aesthetic” reasons. Thus, and after transcending that the other main heir, the lawyer Juan Guillán, will also resign, everything indicates that this legacy will pass into the hands of María Teresa Sampedro Portas, the girl, the main beneficiary in Rosario Porto’s will.
She was a close friend of her mother, Curro Ortega, and the person who did not abandon her even after she was convicted of murder. Now, knowing she is heir, she has also made herself available to the family to bear the costs of moving Charo’s body from Ávila to Boisaca.
