Federer No. 1 Tennis Fan’s Favorite Player for 18 Consecutive Years

‘Tennis Emperor’ Roger Federer (39, Switzerland) has maintained the No. 1 player in the favorite player of the men’s professional tennis (ATP) tour fans for 18 consecutive years.

On the 22nd, ATP Tour announced the list of winners in major categories at the end of the year.

Among them, Federer has continued to be the number one player for 18 consecutive years in the’Fans’ Favorite Player’ category, which is selected by fans’ vote.

The award was first enacted in 2000 and was won by Gustavu Kirteng (Brazil) in 2000 and Marat Safin (Russia) in 2001 and 2002, followed by Federer from 2003 to this year.

Federer, currently ranked 5th in the world, only competed in the Australian Open in January and climbed to the quarterfinals due to injury this year, and has since been unable to compete.

The ATP Number One Award, given to the world’s No. 1 at the end of the year, was won by Novak Djokovic (Serbia), now the world’s No. 1 player.

This year’s Australian Open champion Djokovic has won four tours, making it the oldest ever year-end world leader.

Djokovic, 33 years old, 6 months and 16 days old, broke the record of 33 years, 5 months and 23 days set by Rafael Nadal (2nd place, Spain) last year for about one month.

Djokovic reached the world’s No. 1 at the end of the year for the 6th time and tied the record with Pete Sampress (retired, USA).

Nadal has become a sportsmanship award winner for the last three years in a row.

Andrei Rubleov (Russia) won the skill development award, Baesik Pospicil (Canada) for this year’s comeback award, and Carlos Alcaras (Spain) for the rookie award.

The ATP Tour 2021 season ends with a tour competition held on January 5, 2021 in Antalya, Turkey and Delray Beach, Florida, USA.
