‘Messi will survive despite being lied to by Barcelona’

Barcelona

Presidential candidate Barcelona, Joan Laporta, said that the club had lied many times Lionel Messi. However, Laporta believes Messi will stay.

Laporta is one of the candidates in the Barcelona presidential election to be held on January 24. If selected, one of Laporta’s first tasks will be to keep Messi.

Messi is entering the final year of his contract at Barcelona. His future at Camp Nou is also a question mark, especially after he tried to leave last summer.

As is well known, Messi had asked Barcelona to end his contract earlier in the transfer market last summer. He believes he has a clause in the contract that can make him leave when I am, as long as he declares his intentions to management before the season ends.

However, Barcelona argued that the clause had expired last June. The president of Barcelona at that time, Josep Maria Bartomeu, insisted that Messi was bound by a contract with a release clause worth 700 million euros.

Question Lionel MessiJoan Laporta believes the 33-year-old footballer still wants to continue his career at Barcelona. He believes Messi is still loyal even though the club has repeatedly lied to him.

“I believe Messi wants to continue at Barca,” said Joan Laporta in an interview with ESPN.

“It will depend on the proposals submitted by the new president. He must see that there are competitive teams who want to rekindle the love story of Barca with the Champions League, which has been on hold lately.”

“The club has lied to him many times and, what’s more, things are not going the way everyone wants him to. He’s at a point in his career where he still wants to be successful and win titles.”

“He cannot continue to accept that the other teams winning the Champions League and Barca, along with Lionel, the best player in history, don’t have a team competitive enough to win it,” said Laporta.
