Finally, the Ministry of the Interior of Uruguay reported on Friday December 18 -2020- that there were two convicted of 82 crimes of fraud committed in various departments of our country.

Members of the Canelones Investigations Area began work months ago that culminated in the conviction of two people for repeated crimes of fraud in the departments of Montevideo, Paysandú, Treinta y Tres, Colonia, Salto, Maldonado, Rivera, Rocha, Río Negro, San José, Artigas, Cerro Largo, Flores and Canelones.
The proceedings began as a result of several complaints filed by the victims, who made several purchases through Facebook. There they were offered different products such as electrical appliances and vehicle covers, among others. For these items, the respondents requested a sum of money in advance, to then block them without delivering the merchandise.
As a result of the incident, and after several inquiries, the Canelones officers established the identity of the perpetrators and it was verified that both respondents had been serving preventive detention since September, for which they were referred to the police station.
After the judicial instance, the Law Court of 4th. Turno de Canelones ordered the man with the initials GBC his sentence as a criminally responsible perpetrator of a continuing crime of fraud to the penalty of three years and eight months in prison, which will be fulfilled as follows: two years and six months of compliance effective and one year and two months under the regime of probation with reduced time for detention and preventive detention completed.
While for the man with the initials AEMJ, his sentence was ordered as the criminally responsible author of a continuing crime of fraud to the penalty of two years in prison with discounts of time for detention and prison.
