Reilingen.Blood donation is the voluntary donation of a certain amount of blood. The blood is then examined, processed and used for medical, scientific and pharmaceutical purposes. The amount withdrawn is usually half a liter. 107 voluntary donors now appeared in the Fritz-Mannherz-Hallen to donate their blood to a good cause. The high number of 28 first-time donors is particularly noteworthy.
The donation campaign was carried out by the Mannheim district association of the German Red Cross (DRK). There was enough space in the multi-purpose hall to ensure generous spacing, and great care was taken to protect donors and staff as much as possible. Before the donors were admitted, a fever was measured, all of them had to disinfect their hands and were given new mouth and nose covers. All objects that came into contact with people were disinfected immediately after each contact.
Canned food urgently needed
Around 15,000 blood donations are required in Germany every day. The blood donation service of the Red Cross in Germany ensures a safe and secure supply of blood and blood preparations around the clock, 365 days a year. “Blood donors are very special people because with their blood donation they take on social commitment and thus responsibility,” says the DRK. zg
