[이뉴스투데이 박병윤 기자] Ko Jin-young (25), ranked No. 1 in the women’s golf world ranking, has won the prize for the second consecutive year on the LPGA Tour.
On the 21st, Ko Jin-young hit 6 under par 66 with 7 birdies and 1 bogie in the final day of the final match of the CME Group Tour Championships in the LPGA Tour 2020 season held at Tiburon Golf Club (par 72, 6556 yards) in Naples, Florida.
Ko Jin-young, who recorded a final total of 18 under par 270 strokes, defeated Kim Se-young (27) and Hana Green (Australia), tied for second place, by five strokes, and scored his seventh victory in the tour.
Go Jin-young, who received the winning prize of $1.1 million (about 1.2 billion won), earned a season prize of $166,7925 and became the prize winner for the second consecutive year following last year.
After conquering the final game of the season, Ko Jin-young also became the CME Globe Race Champion, which converted his achievements into points.
Ko Jin-young started participating in the LPGA Tour only in November due to Corona 19 this year, and showed his potential to become the prize winner and the CME Globe Race Champion despite only appearing in only four of the 18 tournaments in the 2020 season.
Meanwhile, the LPGA Tour Player of the Year was won by Kim Se-young, who finished second in the CME Group Tour Championship.
