Revealing the Concept of Future Oppo Devices

JAKARTA Oppo recently presented a number conceptual design new design philosophy human-centric at the 4th China International Industrial Design Expo (CIIDE) in Shenzhen, China . This conceptual design was specially designed for Oppo by nendo, a leading Japanese design studio founded by Oki Sato. (Also read: Oppo Indonesia Launches Reno5 with Changing Back Colors )

Oppo is collaborating with nendo in order to explore various device designs in the future. During the exhibition, the manufacturer also demonstrated a series of its classic product designs that reflect Oppo’s insights and efforts in exploring forms, materials and interactions that the company has had since its inception.

The China International Industrial Design Expo is a national level event that focuses on industrial design in China. With this year’s theme “New Design, New Trends, New Momentum”, Oppo brings a retrospective style to showcasing the best classic product designs created by the company during its lifetime.


In 2008, Oppo launched its first smartphone called “Smiley Face” A103 which marks the beginning of a perfect balance between aesthetics and innovation. This innovation has proven itself a lot over the past 12 years. In 2012, the brand launched one of the world’s thinnest mobile phones called Finder which is designed in such a way as to make it easier and more comfortable to hold.

Continuing in 2014, the manufacturer introduced the Find 5 series which has a 2.5D curved design. Two years on, Oppo released the R9 series which was inspired by the snow mountains which was equipped with a more beautiful appearance and a smartphone body that was easy to hold. Last year, the brand launched the world’s thinnest 5G phone called the Reno3.

Oppo’s breakthroughs in design also extend to its cutting-edge camera technology. In 2014, they released the N3, a smartphone equipped with the world’s first motorized rotating camera. In 2018, the company launched Find X, a smartphone which has a full-screen display and uses a unique design where the user can slide the camera out of the body of the smartphone when activating it.

This innovation integrates 11 components, including the front and rear cameras and sensors, and produces a ratio screen-to-body up to 93.8%. In 2019, Oppo is increasingly making new breakthroughs by launching the Reno 10x Zoom and its unique elevated pivot structure. The breakthrough has now become the inspiration for new designs in the industry smartphone.

Revealing the Concept of Future Oppo Devices
In November 2020, Oppo once again showed its latest exploration in smartphone development by displaying the Oppo X 2021, a new rollable smartphone concept, at the Oppp Inno Day 2020 event. The screen of this conceptual device can be rolled up and its size can be adjusted within the specified range so as to offer new perspectives on the future of devices and how humans can interact with them.

At the China International Industrial Design Expo, the company presented a conceptual design “slide-phone“and”music-link“which is the result of collaboration with nendo, a leading industrial design studio from Japan. The idea to create”slide-phone“Starting from Oppo and Nendo that find that user smartphone increasingly rely on their cell phones to interact with the world around them.

In order to support more functionality, smartphones are generally designed with a large size making it difficult and uncomfortable to hold. This trend of large cell phones has become a concern for a number of users handphone.
