New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday lashed out at the Center for targeting farmers’ agents in Punjab through income tax raids and notices. He alleged that the central government was taking such steps to weaken the farmers’ protest.

Kejriwal also criticized the Center shortly after Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said the raids were a clear tactic to curb the democratic rights and freedoms of farmers’ agents. Amarinder Singh said 14 farm agents across Punjab had received notices from the Income Tax Department and were conducting raids within four days of receiving the notices.
