Maneuver, phone bonus: here’s how to get it

Coming up the digitization kit envisaged by the package of amendments to the Budget Law. The phone bonus is one of the novelties, and provides the possibility of receiving a smartphone on loan for use and a subscription with giga for one year. The government’s goal is to counter the digital divide, made even more evident by the pandemic and the forced use of distance learning.This is why an intervention by the executive was necessary to try to reduce the digital gap.

However, it will not be for everyone: in fact, they have been allocated for the measure 20 million euros for 2021. As the Messenger writes, this means that he will be received alone one in ten beneficiaries: will be made available, with the resources already allocated, as soon as two hundred thousand mobile phones, with their respective internet subscriptions. So, even if on paper the families that would be entitled to receive the bonus would be two million, many will remain excluded. However, this bonus will be added to the already active pc and tablet bonus, worth 500 euros, destined for nuclei with Isee of up to 20 thousand euros.

How to receive the bonus and who can request it

Let’s see who can apply for thephone bonus. The beneficiaries are households with an Isee indicator not exceeding 20 thousand euros per year. And only one person per household can receive the telephone with a subscription with a giga, who must not, however, have active, at the time he requests the digitization kit of the maneuver, other contracts with telephone operators, neither for fixed internet nor mobile line. The free subscription to two press organs and the IO application will already be active on the phone, an app that will soon be indispensable for interacting with the Public Administration, which also serves to join the cashback.

In order to access the bonus, however, you must first join the Public digital identity system (Spid). In reality, this step could become an obstacle for many: in fact, without a modern mobile phone it is difficult to activate the Spid. Also for this reason, the digitization kit risks becoming a puzzle: at the moment only 14.8 million Italians have joined the Spid. It can be obtained through the Italian Post Office or through other enabled ‘identity providers’, and allows, through a username and password, access to various services of the institutions, such as those provided by INPS and the various ministries.

However, further rules will be contained in a decree of the ministry for technological innovation and digitization, with a provision expected within 60 days from the date of entry into force of the budget maneuver.
