The McCallister family want to go away for Christmas, but the night before the flight, Kevin and his big brother Buzz argue. Kevin’s plane ticket ends up in the trash can unnoticed and as if that weren’t enough, he is sent to the attic to sleep. The next day the chaos continues: During the night, a fallen tree damaged the telephone and power lines in the house – and thus also the alarm clock – which is why the entire family overslept. In the hustle and bustle, Kevin’s mother, Kate, accidentally counts the boy next door and drives to the airport without her son. When Kevin realizes the situation, he is initially full of joy, but in the evening it turns out: The two gangsters Harry and Marv are after the McCallister house. At home alone, Kevin tries to keep them from breaking in with clever traps and tricks.
