This Saturday takes place the Christmas market of know-how and specialties of Buëch and Provencal Baronnies, under Christmas lights with Father Christmas and above all a huge driftwood nativity scene, on the Place de la Liberté. - Thanks to the pope : when Pope Clement V moved to Avignon in 1309, Serres was on the road linking Avignon to Lombardy and northern Italy, which encouraged its development, with the organization of many fairs for example.
- Station : Serres has a station on the line between Aix-en-Provence and Briançon, located between Laragne and Veynes-Dévoluy.
- Watch out for the Cardinal : Cardinal Richelieu had the Citadel which dominated the village destroyed in 1633 and which could have made Serres Sisteron’s little sister.
- A midi : Serres has the only Hautes-Alpes marble meridian, a sort of sundial, on the facade of the primary school, which, since 1882, has been showing the midday instant.
- On the way of the carts : A charrière is a path through which the carts pass, and the main street of Serres, bordered by old prestigious residences, is called the “Grande Charrière”.
- Braided : the Buëch crosses Serres, the Buëch being a braided river, divided into many channels giving the impression that it is woven around gravel banks.
- The survivor reaches out : the geographer Alexandre Corréard is one of the survivors of the frigate La Méduse which ran aground off Mauritania. On the Raft of the Medusa, Géricault represents him stretching his arm towards the horizon. Alexandre Corréard was born in Serres in 1788.
