The Poland Museum in Rapperswil Castle is a traditional institution with an international presence. Its roots go back to 1870. At that time, Count Wladislaw Broel-Plater, who fled his divided homeland into exile in Switzerland, founded the Polish National Museum here. It was to remain in Rapperswil until 1927. Two more Polish museums followed, each with longer interruptions totaling 35 years, the most recent in 1975. On October 25, the operating association celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Polish presence in the castle with the Polish ambassador and local and regional political celebrities.
