VIDEO. New York under a white coat after heavy snowfall

Snowball battles and toboggan races in Central Park. New York woke up Thursday under a thick blanket of snow after a storm that wreaked havoc in the Northeast of the United States. In nearly 24 hours, more than three feet of powder fell in parts of upstate New York.

The garbage trucks adorned with a snowplow crisscrossed the avenues of the city with their characteristic screeching, while the janitors of the buildings assaulted shovels, spreaders, or brooms. At Boston airport, the storm caused the cancellation of hundreds of flights, preventing many people from joining their families for the holiday season.

At least six people have died, most of them in one of the thousands of road accidents that have taken place in the region, according to several US media. Authorities have said the storm will not affect the distribution of vaccines against Covid-19, which began last weekend.
