The NHL season is slated to begin on January 13, 2021 and the main round will include 56 games for each team. The players and the National Hockey League have basically agreed on this, reported US media.
However, the plan is not yet official and has to be approved by the health authorities in Canada in addition to the board members.
Due to the travel restrictions caused by the corona pandemic on the Canadian-American border, the Canadian teams – including the Edmonton Oilers around ice hockey national players Leon Draisaitl and Dominik Kahun – may only play games among themselves. Because the rules in the provinces were recently tightened, this is not yet certain.
According to the information, the first training camp will start on December 31st. The 24 teams represented in the playoffs will follow on January 3rd. There shouldn’t be any preparation games.
