Situation report on coronavirus COVID-19 in Uruguay (12/18/2020)


Epidemiological report:

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Public Health (MSP), 7177 analyzes were carried out today and 520 new cases of Coronavirus COVID-19 were detected. Of the 520 new cases, 369 are from Montevideo, 81 from Canelones, 13 from Maldonado, 9 from Artigas, 8 from Florida, 8 from Tacuarembó, 7 from Cerro Largo, 7 from San José, 6 from Paysandú, 5 from Durazno, 4 de Rivera, 1 from Flores, 1 from Lavalleja and 1 from Rocha. Regarding the epidemiological trace, the outbreaks reported in recent days remain. In all cases, strict epidemiological monitoring is carried out.

Since the health emergency was declared on March 13, 544,455 tests have been processed and 11,950 positive cases of Coronavirus have been registered throughout the national territory. Of that total, 7699 have already been recovered.

Today four new deaths from Coronavirus were confirmed in our country. They are a 92-year-old patient from Canelones, two patients from Montevideo, 67 and 75 years old, and a 58-year-old patient from Rivera. So far there are 109 deaths from COVID-19 in Uruguay.

There are currently 4142 active cases, that is, people who are experiencing the disease, 44 of them are in intensive care and none are in intermediate care.

Of the total of confirmed positive cases, 922 correspond to health personnel. 688 of them have already recovered, 231 are suffering from the disease and 3 have died.

As of today in the 19 departments there are active cases.
CLARIFICATION: Yesterday the total positive cases confirmed to date was 11,436 cases of Coronavirus COVID-19. Today 520 new cases and a total of 11,950 confirmed positive cases are reported. The difference is explained because 6 foreign citizens tested positive and returned to their countries.
