Coronavirus: situation update in Normandy – December 18

En Normandy, the regional incidence rate continues to increase to reach 94.8, against 90.18 on 12/15. This increase calls on everyone to redouble their precaution in view of the end of the year holidays to come. The incidence rate in the Orne region is still the highest in the region (192.8 per 100,000 inhabitants) (see below).

With 1089 people hospitalized for COVID-19 on 12/17 (compared to 1052 on 12/14), the total number of hospitalized patients is increasing again: if the number of patients in intensive care continues to decrease, with 79 people in intensive care (against 84 12/14), the total number of conventional hospitalizations is increasing.

Together we all have a role to play. More than ever, the challenge lies in respecting barrier gestures and early identification of positive cases, their isolation and the identification of their contacts. With the “Test, Alert, Protect” (TAP) strategy, it is a question of breaking the chain of contamination as soon as possible to curb the epidemic.

In order to experiment on a large scale and as close as possible to the inhabitants, the whole of the new TAP strategy, thehe operation carried out in Le Havre Seine Métropole continues until‘at tomorrow Saturday. Between Monday and Thursday, 17,799 tests were carried out, i.e. in 4 days the equivalent of 4 weeks of tests in this territory. Among the people who came for testing, 215 tested positive. Thanks to the new system put in place, as soon as their result was obtained, they immediately benefited from contact tracing, at the place of their screening, concrete support in isolation, through personalized advice and the establishment of services to home to facilitate this isolation if necessary. A return on this operation will be made on Tuesday.

As an extension of this 1time experimentation, in view of the strong acceleration in the circulation of the virus observed in the Orne over the past few days, an action plan piloted by the ARS and the prefecture is currently being implemented in partnership with local authorities, health professionals health and associations. It is :

make the population aware of barrier gestures, thanks to the deployment of health ambassadors in the most affected areas,

– as part of the TAP strategy :

. Facilitate access to screening

. Quickly identify contact persons at risk

. Support isolation measures

– strengthen support for the structures concerned by clusters.
