WhatsApp has announced that many of its features will be inaccessible from 2021 on some smartphones. Is yours on the list?

Every year, WhatsApp stops working on the oldest smartphone models. Heading into 2021, the instant messaging app has announced that it will skip spinning phones running Android 4.0.2 and iPhones running iOS 8 and earlier.
“In fact, the application already installed on these smartphones will still be able to work, but to a certain extent. Several features will indeed be inaccessible from 2021 and their number will only increase over time.” Explain Geeko.
WhatsApp recommends using the instant messaging app on the following devices:
- Android under OS 4.0.3 and later.
- iPhone running iOS 9 or later.
- Some phones running KaiOS 2.5.1 and later, including JioPhone and JioPhone 2.
If you have an iPhone 4 or earlier and you don’t feel ready to give up on WhatsApp, now is the time to think about (getting) a new phone for you. Christmas!
