The Metropolitan Area of Barcelona finally regulates the taxi in the face of the coronavirus crisis
Barcelona taxi drivers have spent too many days putting their health and that of users at risk by working in precarious conditions and without proper regulation.
The Metropolitan Taxi Institute could not regulate the sector until there was a resolution by the Generalitat, a statement that arrived yesterday afternoon, which gave free rein to regulation by the AMB.
This morning, the president of IMET, Rosa Alarcón Montañés, issued the taxi regulation report, which is mandatory as of today, March 25.
Among the most prominent sections is the obligation to clean and disinfect the vehicle, if possible after each service. In turn, it is also mandatory to comply with all hygiene recommendations, such as washing your hands with hydroalcoholic gel.
Likewise, the obligation to deliver the printed payment receipt is canceled, unless the client expressly requests it.
The reduction of the fleet
Regarding schedules, the IMET has set a calendar to reduce the Barcelona taxi fleet and thus avoid unnecessary risks.
During the entire period of the state of alarm, the vehicles applied to the Barcelona Metropolitan Area taxi licenses can go to work according to the following accumulation:
- Monday: Licenses completed in 3-4 can go to work
- Tuesday: Licenses completed in 5-6 can go to work
- Wednesday: Licenses ending in 7-8 can go to work
- Thursday: Licenses ending in 9-0 can go out to work
- Friday: Licenses finished in 1-2 can go to work
- Saturday March 28: Licenses finished in 3-5 can go to work
- Sunday March 29: Licenses completed in 4-6 can go to work
- Saturday April 4: You can go to work licenses finished in 7-9
- Sunday April 5: Licenses ending in 8-0 can go to work
In the event of an extension of the alarm state, the same criteria will be maintained from Monday to Friday and, with respect to weekends, it will be the following:
- Saturday April 11: You can go out to work licenses finished in 2-4
- Sunday April 12: Licenses ending in 1-3 can go to work
