But this video is just a teaser. In reality, musicians and storytellers have gone out to meet children and seniors to present their work. “The idea was born during the first deconfinement in May”, explains David Zuccolo , violinist and artistic coordinator at the OSM. “With the libraries, we set tales to music and presented them in schools and retirement homes. “

Family translation
This fall, this project took a regional turn. “We looked for Alsatian legends and we started to present them in French and Alsatian. The Sinne theater lent us the costumes, ”continues David Zuccolo. And it’s Cyrille Laenger who took care of the translation of the tale: The Baker’s Daughter. “I played for ten years at the Alsatian theater,” he explains. After a first version, the translator nevertheless took the precaution of having his text validated by several members of his family for whom Alsatian is the mother tongue. “They corrected some grammar mistakes,” he admits.
Suffice to say that this little show was ready to be presented to the children of the bilingual school ABCM Zweisprachigkeit. “This is an immersive school for children from the small nursery section to CM2”, explains Karine Sarbacher, president of ABCM schools. “In kindergarten, children are fully immersed in German and Alsatian. At CP, they are fully immersed in German. Apart from the educational aspect, being able to attend a real show was also a way of bringing a festive atmosphere to school. “Children need it. “

“It is for us an opportunity to go out on the field”
The four violinists, accompanied by a storyteller for the French versions of the Hollow oak and witches and Golden frogs , and Cyrille Laenger for the Alsatian version of the baker’s daughter , presented their show to the children of CP and CM2. “It’s an opportunity for us to go out on the field and play in front of an audience,” notes David Zuccolo.
Another performance was scheduled for Thursday afternoon at the Hansi retirement home. For the rest, the musicians will have to wait for the evolution of the situation and the decisions on a possible reopening of the rooms in January.
