Suspicion of hiring acquaintances after canceling the transition to an indefinite contract
According to data obtained by the National Assembly’s Office of the People’s Power, Eun-hye Kim, a member of the National Assembly’s National Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, candidate Byeon made a remark to the effect that the victims were highly responsible for the 2016’Guui Station Accident’ while serving as SH president.
The’Guui Station Accident’, which occurred in May 2016, refers to an accident in which Kim Mo, who was a non-regular employee, was reported to be malfunctioning of a screen door, went to inspection alone, and was caught between the train entering the platform and the screen door.

He pointed out that such a move of Candidate Chang-Hum Byun’s career as President of SH and Guui Station Kim Gun-related not only differs from the philosophy of state administration that the Moon Jae-in administration advocated, but also contradicts the sentiment of the people.” Suspicion of hiring his acquaintance was also raised. This incident resulted in SH being caught in a case and eventually lost.
Rep. Kim quoted the ruling on the request for confirmation of worker status and exclaimed that “The discriminatory treatment and perception of candidate Byeon toward irregular employees does not meet the standards of fairness and justice, as well as the Moon Jae-in administration’s governmental philosophy.”
