Video action by the music school

Events with an audience as well as larger ensemble rehearsals have been prohibited for some time. In addition to professional musicians, this also affects the students at the city’s music school. Usually they can put their skills to the test in front of an audience at numerous events in the city – usually around 100 a year. With the video campaign, which took place on Saturday, December 12th, in the chamber music hall of the music school, the teachers offered the children and young people a new challenge.

A total of 13 students from the music school came one after the other in the chamber music hall to record their contributions on video: Among them eight piano students from Isabella Schubert’s class as well as four cellists and a young bassist who are taking lessons from Anna Overbeck. The motto was “Beethoven and more” and so, in addition to large sonata movements and small, famous melodies by the master, who is celebrating his 250th birthday this year, Christmas carols and pieces from the popular area and modernity also played.

“Despite the very difficult conditions that we all had to struggle with this year, the students are motivated to create a new format. In the end, they can learn new things and get something positive out of the matter.” Isabella Schubert. On Saturday, she not only looked after the students she had prepared for the action, but also stood behind the camera. She spontaneously accompanied the young Leon Schäckermann, who attended first class and made his debut on the double bass, on the piano. “That was really fun,” said Leon after the video shoot.

The age groups of the participants were very mixed. Schoolchildren from the Abitur class, but also from grades 5 to 8 and from various primary school classes played. Everyone involved will receive a complete video of this special morning, which will certainly be remembered for a long time.

It played:

  • Piano: Matilda Brandner (Grade 5), Felina Lück, Linus Sager, Vince Schmidt, Julia Czspla (all Grade 4), Fiona Reiners (Grade 7), Jael Detering (Grade 12), Adrianna Hudalla (Grade 12)
  • Cello: Julius Martensmeier (Grade 4), Marie Haßfurther (Grade 12), Jonna Tschöke (Grade 6), Emilia Matrigiano (Grade 8)
  • Double bass: Leon Schäckermann (class 1)
