The Government of Cesar presented the advances of the bovine in vitro fertilization program, which aims to genetically improve livestock production in the department.

There are about 900 pregnancies delivered to beneficiary farmers, in addition there are another 1,500 pending to which the embryos have already been transferred and are in the process of fertilization. With these figures, the goal of 2,000 pregnancies, established in the agreement that is reaching the entire department, would be exceeded.

“We are working with the productive sector such as livestock, one of the most important in our territory, that is why we are making progress in genetic improvement through embryo transfer. This pregnancies project is free, we provide laboratory work, genetics, and at the same time, the synchronization protocols, in this way we help improve the productivity of the Cesar ranchers ”indicated Governor Luis Alberto Monsalvo.

The pregnancies delivered are the product of a crossing of Gyr cows with a Holstein bull, to produce an F1 female, which produces, on average, up to 15 liters of milk.

“An excellent project, which allows us small farmers to grow in genetics, in livestock. I presented 11 cows, of which six became pregnant, that is a very important figure higher than 40%, which is a call to grow from the hand of the Government of Cesar, “said farmer Fernan Martínez Iseda, who received the pregnancy certificate issued by the Department of Agriculture and Departmental Business Development.

In the property called El Copey, in the Municipality of La Paz, the departmental administration delivered certificates of 26 pregnancies to ranchers from Valledupar, La Paz and San Diego.

“Thank you to the governor for this great genetic improvement program. I was benefited with 11 pregnancies, that will allow an increase in the dairy herd, so I hope this initiative will be maintained for the growth of the entire department, “said Adrián Baute Freite, from the La Universidad farm.

It is expected that the first 100 births will take place in February, as a result of this great initiative that aims to improve milk production, thanks to the genetics offered by the CDT Ganadero del Cesar.
