Prince Hakeem of Zamunda is back! Amazon Prime unveils this Thursday, December 17 the first images of the highly anticipated sequel to the Prince in New York. Eddie Murphy finds its cult role there.
“In the lush and royal land of Zamunda, the new King Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and his staunch confidant Semmi (Arsenio Hall) embark on a whole new comedic adventure across the world, starting from their great African nation to district of Queens, New York – where it all began, “says the official synopsis.
Jermaine Fowler, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Jones, Wesley Snipes and James Earl Jones will respond to Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall.
Expected release on Amazon
Collateral victim of the pandemic and the closure of cinemas in the United States, the film will be released directly on Amazon Prime on March 5. It was due out in theaters in France on January 6.
Made in 1988 by John Landis (Les Blues Brothers, Thriller), A prince in New York is one of Eddie Murphy’s flagship films. He played four different characters in it – a trait that would become his trademark from the Nutty Professor.
Amazon, which began by producing auteur films like Manchester by the Sea, now seems interested in acquiring commercial projects like A prince in New York 2 or Borat 2.
