Supporting reproductive health and eliminating female genital mutilation at a round table at the lake

The National Council for Women branch in Beheira, headed by Eng. Zakia Rashad, participated in the round table of the Association for the Improvement of the Status of Women and Children to discuss the project to empower youth and civil society organizations to support reproductive health and eliminate female circumcision and child marriage.

The project was implemented in Buhaira Governorate through 4 associations, and the Champions and Heroes of Change programs targeted 1,200 children to develop their skills and culture, and organized a sports and entertainment program for them with the participation of 600 parents to encourage them to help and support their children. The project also included training local community leaders on issues of reproductive health and harms related to marriage. Early from a religious and health perspective, and making awareness sessions with the participation of endowments and health.

In conclusion, recommendations were made for the solidarity of civil society, each with its specialization, where awareness seminars are conducted through endowments, the church, rural pioneers, health and education, by entering schools, educating students, and holding meetings to educate children and youth in youth centers and residents by creating new and clear statistics to limit cases of circumcision and early marriage.
