Changeo 5 left Earth on the 24th of last month by carrying rocket Changjeong 5, and on the 1st of this month, a part separated from the hull landed in an area known as the lunar’sea of storm’. In addition, 2 kilograms of soil and rock samples were collected by drilling a 2m deep hole as well as the surface of the moon, and then stored in a sealed container.

After taking the lunar sample, the Changeo 5 take-off ship flew again on the 3rd, and successfully combined with the orbital ship and airship in the lunar orbit on the 6th.

Xinhua News Agency evaluated that “the successful conclusion of the three-stage lunar exploration plan started in 2004, including orbiting, landing, and sampling.”

The Associated Press also said that this is the third time that China has landed on the moon, but it is the first time it has taken off from the moon again. “This success is the latest breakthrough in China’s ambitious space program.”
