In the wake of the pandemic, Zona from Facebook has adapted its programs in order to continue helping people, focusing mainly on SMEs, women entrepreneurs, and responsible use of the internet.
Zona from Facebook celebrates its second anniversary by reviewing the milestones achieved through the data collected since its birth. This project was born as a space to develop ideas and encourage dialogue with the aim of help society take advantage of the opportunities offered by technology.
During these two years, Zona from Facebook has trained more than 100,000 people in digital skills in all the Autonomous Communities. During the pandemic, it has adapted its programs in order to continue helping people, focusing mainly on SMEs and women entrepreneurs. In addition, the project has a strong commitment to training in the responsible use of the internet.
In this time, there have been more than 4,200 hours of training through more than 1,200 sessions, with more than 30 collaborating partners such as educational centers and private companies.
80% of the companies that have completed a Zoma from Facebook training have achieved boost your business through Facebook and Instagram. In addition, 80% of the participants affirm that the knowledge acquired in this training will help them to improve and promote their professional activity.

We have a firm commitment to contribute to the economic reconstruction of the country and in 2021 we will continue to work to help people and companies make the most of the opportunities offered by the Internet, “says Laura Bononcini, Facebook’s Director of Public Affairs for Southern Europe.
The outstanding initiatives of Zona from Facebook
With the aim of supporting SMEs and women entrepreneurs living in rural areas throughout Spain, Zona from Facebook launched the program Extraordinary in collaboration with Cibervoluntarios. In total, in 2019 training sessions were carried out 1,500 women entrepreneurs and the project’s goal is to train 1,000 more this year.
Another of the programs that have started in 2020 has been Boost with Facebook Bootcamps, carried out in collaboration with GRI, a free training course to help SMEs and freelancers to boost their businesses thanks to the Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger tools.
Generation, also carried out in collaboration with Cibervoluntarios, aims to promote positive and healthy use of the internet among young people. In its first edition, the program trained more than 7,000 young people in educational centers. This year the objective is similar and they also have an online platform with interactive educational resources.
To help parents educate their children in the digital universe, Zona from Facebook launched Parent’s Academy together with Empantallados.
In these two years, this project has managed to meet four United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Quality Education, Gender Equality, Decent Work and Economic Growth, and Reduction of Inequalities.
