This Tuesday, ‘Four a day’, the space presented by Joaquín Prat, has dedicated part of its content to ‘the tails of hunger’, which collaborators refer to as “the tail of shame”. “Those places where people who don’t have any kind of resources are going to get what they need to put something in their mouths. And this happens to all kinds of people ”, has started by telling the communicator to make way for a live connection.
It was then that the collaborators, very surprised, got in touch with a “Well-known television presenter”, “who was once”, who has had to resort to ‘hunger queues’ being in a very complicated situation.
The presenter did not want to reveal her identity and introduced herself as María. What is known is that it is “A woman, cultured, who has lived a life with comfort, who speaks four languages” and who is 55 years old. The interviewee finds herself in this situation because she is ruined by not finding a job and by not receiving any benefits after becoming a widow.
“Thanks to the Madrina Foundation and its founding president, Conrado, I can eat, since I don’t have a job, I don’t receive any benefits from the State, I just became a widow and I don’t have a job ”, the presenter began counting. “You have been a partner, you have worked in the environment …”, Prat reminded him. “Yes, I have been your partner, I have been a model, I have had my own casting management agency, I have been a stewardess, I have been an interpreter … I have done many things”, she confessed.
When checking the surreal situation that his ex-partner is experiencing, the host of the space was interested in “how is it possible that he does not receive any kind of help”. “That’s what I ask myself, how do I not receive any kind of help? Because I say that, when you have contributed certain years to the State, something should be returned to you. But, in my case, as I have not reached the minimum that they ask of me, I see myself with one hand in front and others behind ”, revealed.
“My husband died seven months ago from Parkinson’s and I have not been able to receive anything from him, because he did not contribute the required minimum either. And we went through the medical court, since as it is a neurodegenerative disease we thought things would get complicated, we thought they were going to help us, but they haven’t. And the minimum pension that the Government has promised us, I am not receiving either “He declared after admitting that they did not give him a widow’s pension either.
“Thanks to the fact that we have detached ourselves from our things in recent years and to generous friends, in recent years that we have not perceived anything we have been able to live up to this minute. Now all that is over ”, added. “I have no children or parents who can help me. Now I live in the house of a neighbor who has put a mattress on the floor for me ”, confessed.
A spectator offers him a job
“He took the opportunity to tell those politicians that, at least, what they promise, that they give it, that like me there are many people who are not perceiving anything. I also take the opportunity to ask for help from all these types of foundations and to see if someone can give me a job “the presenter asked.
What the interviewee was not expecting is that, before finishing the interview, a businesswoman contacted Cuatro’s space to offer her a job. “I was listening to his story and I was stirring inside. I’ve also had a bad time and I’ve always had people who have helped me at all times and I think now it’s my turn “, assured the businesswoman. “Thank you very much Maria, what generosity”, Maria would say very excited.
