Emilio Monzó, president of the Chamber of Deputies during Mauricio Macri’s mandate between 2015 and 2019, spoke with Luis Novaresio on América TV and outlined a self-criticism regarding the government of Cambiemos: “In our four years we did not know how to meet the expectations of the population, and that is why Kirchnerism rules today ”.
“We have not risen to the occasion. I’m the first to get in line because I had an important position. In 2017 we had the opportunity to make a broad government, there was a gesture from Alberto Fernández, who brought in Sergio Massa to accompany Macri to Davos. We were not doing well and the appearance of Cristina Kirchner made us have an important victory, “he said.
Monzó He added that the electoral victory of Cambiemos in 2017 “was the opportunity to make a call for unity” but they did not, since “we said they were wrong and we were right.” That mistake of the government at that time, in his opinion, lasted until they went to look for Miguel Pichetto to run for vice president, but “it was too late.”
The former deputy also criticized the current national government: “My disappointment is that they did not continue the convocation of Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and what they did with the co-participation point, the government chose to confront the most moderate figure we have.” In addition, he was against how they organized the wake of Diego Armando Maradona.
“Larreta has many conditions to be president. What stands out the most is its moderation. That is why the relationship between him and Alberto Fernández had to end in a pact. I would like that to recover, I have confidence in Wado de Pedro, in Máximo, Meoni, Katopodis, this government has honest people, Vilma Ibarra, Gustavo Beliz, I don’t understand these last three months. I don’t know if they are doing it for next year’s campaign and want to unite their political space, ”Monzó closed.
