The pandemic it marked a turning point for a fusion between technology and the fitness industry. With closures due to the virus, many people have had to exercise in their homes, driving the market for wearable devices. China and the US lead the market for which five large firms have launched their new bets.
In Brazil, it is estimated that wearables sales will generate sales of up to US $ 467 million by the end of the year and another 45 million in revenue from apps to exercise. In Mexico, the devices are expected to generate revenues of US $ 260 million, while the fitness applications would raise about US $ 27 million.
With an eye on this growing market, five brands have launched their latest smartwatch options with a technological commitment and improved functionalities.
Smartwatch, one of the wearables that has taken the most strength in the market with world sales projections that reach 109.9 million units according to Statista data, do not stop advancing in their technological characteristics. During the second half of 2020, despite the pandemic, the main technology houses have launched smart watch launches that increasingly outperform each other, such as the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro, Samsung’s Galaxy Watch3, the Apple Watch Series 6 , the Xiaomi XMWT01 or the OPPO Watch.
The most recent study by Visual Capitalist showed that the most important technology brand in the international market is Huawei with a 20% share; like Samsung with the same percentage; third on the list is Apple with 14%; followed by Xiaomi at 10% and Oppo, at 9%.
Meanwhile, Huawei’s best and latest launch is the Huawei Watch GT 2 Pro that hit the Colombian market on November 5. The watch offers: two weeks of battery life, more than 100 exercise modes, professional-level physical activity monitoring, TruSeen 4.0+ system for greater sensitivity, among others that the series already had.
For its part, at Samsung the latest is the Galaxy Watch3, available in Colombia from September 7 with a unique design proposal, larger screen, smaller body, fall detection function with emergency calls, more advanced sports functions , advice and health guidance through different applications and the possibility of having a much more precise stress monitoring.
The Apple Watch Series 6 is for its part the last of the American house. “The Apple Watch Series 6 completely redefines what a watch can do. With new and advanced features, including a sensor and an app to measure the level of oxygen in the blood, the Apple Watch is now even more indispensable as it provides more information on general well-being, ”said Jeff Williams, Apple’s Chief Operating Officer .
Xiaomi, launched its XMWT01 that has a 1.78-inch screen and functions with better health and sports measurements that now include new sports. Oppo, the last brand in the top five, only arrives in Colombia through Amazon and has just released its Oppo Watch.
