The staff of the intensive care unit of the Auxerre hospital in solidarity with restaurateurs

The caregivers of the intensive care unit at Auxerre hospital take an original initiative to support restaurant owners: they will order meals for their Christmas and New Year’s guards. Dylan Moreau is a nurse in the intensive care unit.

– How did this idea of ordering meals from restaurants in Yonne come about?

During the first confinement, we had a burst of generosity from the restaurateurs who made us meals. We wanted to give back in a certain way what had been given to us because the restaurateurs were numerous to bring us meals which made us heartwarming . Also to return the favor, we thought about ordering our meals for the end of year guards.

– How many meals are you going to order?

About sixty for Christmas and New Year’s Eve. We launched a call for tenders from restaurateurs. They can make their proposal to us on [email protected] until December 19. A colleague centralizes the quotes for twenty to thirty euros per person. It’s our way of thanking them and supporting them in this complicated period, especially since since February, they haven’t been able to work properly.

– Do you think your initiative can snowball?

Yes, because several other hospital departments such as pediatrics, medicine or surgery are interested. Ehpads have also taken up this idea. The more of us there are, the more restaurant owners will be able to have orders and it’s pretty cool during this holiday season and in this difficult context to be able to provide service and support to the restaurant industry.
