Protesters stabbed, police wounded and 30 detainees. This was the summary of the night of demonstration in favor of Donald Trump in the U.S. presidency, with thousands on the streets contesting the outcome of the presidential elections.
On Twitter, Trump did not hide his delight at the demonstrations in an area of the capital near the White House.
“Wow! Thousands of people are gathering in Washington, to prevent the election from being stolen from us,” wrote on the social network.
The majority of Trump loyalists demonstrated without a mask, two days before the Electoral College met to formally elect Democrat Joe Biden as the 46th President of the United States of America.
Trump, whose presidential term ends on January 20, 2021, has refused to grant the post, alleging electoral fraud, but complaints have been dismissed in several state and federal courts, and on Friday by the US Supreme Court .
Last month, street demonstrations brought together between 10,000 and 15,000 people in the capital also ended in clashes between Trump’s allies and local activists, which is why the police this week reinforced measures to separate the groups, closing the square Black Lives Mater, near the White House.
Thousands of red caps with the slogan “Make America Great Again” marched through the American capital, showing their belief that the President will be able to annul Biden’s victory and serve a second term in the White House.
