Well, it is becoming a reality thanks to the new feature that connects Messenger to Instagram.
Due to human social nature, people need to communicate with their friends and family. Social media platforms have made this possible and hassle free. The need for fast, reliable and fun messaging has witnessed the launch of a new feature that enables communication between apps between Messenger and Instagram.
Chat with your Facebook friends on Instagram
While social platforms bring fun when interacting with others, more and more people are looking for a little privacy. That’s why Facebook is looking to link all of its messaging apps. So, WhatsApp will soon join the bandwagon.
Once the three messaging apps are finally linked, there will be no reason to leave Facebook. Very strategic, right?
Of the 3.6 billion people who use social media today, 1.3 billion are on Messenger probably because you don’t need a Facebook account to use it.
What is inter-application communication?
This new feature allowed Instagram to borrow some features already applied to the messenger. No matter which app you use, the cross-app feature guarantees you the best user experience by connecting with people on other apps without having to switch.
For example, I bet you use more than one app to reach different people. Sometimes it can be hard to remember which app you used to message which person. But that shouldn’t be something you have to figure out first, and this new Instagram feature takes that pain away.
New features on the latest version of Instagram
Updating your Instagram app to the latest version will allow you to:
Attach a specific response to a particular message when chatting by swiping your finger the same way you do on Messenger to ensure a smooth conversation flow. Forward to share interesting things with friends. Enjoy the uniqueness that comes with different colors and themes. Express yourself in the best way without words using custom emojis. Access animated effects for better expression of emotions and visual flair on messages.
Here is a list of the ten features that come with this new feature:
Watch together will provide you the quality time you crave with loved ones through activities like watching videos and movies together during video calls.
Disappear mode will allow you to keep your secret conversations secret. The messages you specify will disappear when viewed or when you are finished chatting.
Communicate between applications is a feature that allows you to communicate with friends through different apps.
Custom Emoji Reactions will give you access to emojis that you can use to display a reaction to a post, unlike previous versions of Instagram.
Cat colors will allow you to apply the colors you want
Selfie Stickers lets you use your photos to emoji emojis and use them to react to your messages.
Sender allows five of your friends or groups to receive content that you meet and want to share with them.
Message commands gives you the freedom to choose where you want messages from friends to go and steer clear of those you don’t want to contact you at all.
responses This feature will improve your conversion flow as you can reply to a specific chat message with a simple swipe.
Animated message effects lets you apply your creativity and make chatting fun using animated effects.
How to enable cross messaging feature on Instagram
If you haven’t updated your Instagram app, you’ll probably see it when you open the app.

By pressing Learn more about this change, a window will appear to present the new cross-application functionality. There are also guidelines and control options with an option for To reject or Keep updating.
To continue, press the Continue Update button. This will open a new page telling you exactly what the new functionality is; Update to chat with Facebook accounts. A few of the fun aspects of this new feature are listed, along with access to a list of more fun features. At the bottom of this page, you have two options; Update and not now. Below you can access information about your privacy.
Also note that once the update is complete, you will no longer have access to the old version. If you are planning to update, so make sure this is what you want.
Tap on update and you’re done! You can now start enjoying the latest features on Facebook and Instagram. At this point, you will see a Messenger icon on your Instagram app at the top right, where the direct message icon was before the update.
If you need to start chatting, tap the Messenger icon to access the chat button that looks like a notepad and pen. Tap it to access a list of your friends from Instagram and Facebook. You can now choose who to contact, it’s simple.
