A laying hen farm in Gimpo, Gyeonggi Province, has been diagnosed with highly pathogenic avian influenza.
The Central Avian Influenza Accident Control Center said it was finally confirmed as highly pathogenic AI as a result of testing the farms that had been reported suspicious.
Accordingly, poultry raised within 3km radius of AI-prone farms will be buried, and poultry farms within 10km radius will be subject to movement restrictions and detailed inspections for 30 days.
The confirmation of Gimpo Farm is the 13th case after a highly pathogenic AI occurred in 2 years and 8 months at a duck farm in Jeongeup, Jeollabuk-do on the 26th of last month.
