Because the tax force of 2018 is used as the basis for the calculation, there are losers and winners in the Unterallgäu.

Munich is like an early Christmas present for many municipalities in the district. Finance Minister Albert Füracker (
CSU) announced how far the Free State of Bavaria will open its cornucopia for the municipalities in 2021. These so-called key allocations total over 3.9 billion euros in all of Bavaria. Around 39 million euros of this will flow into the Unterallgäu and the municipalities belonging to the district. This is shared by the constituency member and former minister of state
Franz Josef Pschierer With.
“The Unterallgäu district is being supported with around 19.84 million euros, the municipalities will receive around 19.18 million euros. This means that the Free State remains the reliable partner and strong support of our municipalities even in these difficult Corona times, ”said Pschierer in a message to the media.
The funds are the largest single item in municipal financial equalization. As free budget funds and as a supplement to one’s own tax revenue, they are of great importance for a strong municipal administration, emphasizes Pschierer. The basis for the calculation is, among other things, the municipal tax revenue from 2019.
“We have to maintain the investment capacity and thus the sustainability of our municipalities. It is an important signal that the municipal financial equalization will be continued in 2021 despite a massive drop in tax revenues at a record high of 10.36 billion euros, ”says Pschierer. “In addition, we are compensating the Bavarian municipalities for the high losses in trade tax due to the Corona crisis. The Free State is making more than 1.3 billion euros available from the Corona Pandemic special fund, and the federal government is contributing a further billion euros. “

The municipalities and districts in Swabia will receive key allocations of 679 million euros in 2021. The key allocations are the largest single item in municipal financial equalization and serve to stabilize the municipalities’ financial situation. They can use the assignments freely to carry out their tasks. In this way, their personal responsibility and self-administration are sustainably strengthened.
Augsburg receives the most money
The highest key allocations in Swabia and thus the second highest amount in all of Bavaria will be received by Augsburg in 2021 with 179.1 million euros. This means an increase of four percent compared to the previous year. This is followed by Kempten with 28.1 million euros and Kaufbeuren with 24.4 million euros. The districts in Swabia will receive a total of 217 million euros in 2021, the districts around 223 million euros.
In addition to the key allocations, Bavaria will provide over 706 million euros for allocations to the districts in 2021. A special focus is on municipal investments in the future: Funding for municipal building construction, especially for schools and day-care centers, will be increased by 50 million euros or 8.3 percent to 650 million euros, reports the finance minister.
