Météo France is on December 13 the Gironde in orange vigilance for risk of floods, at least until the morning of December 14. The department thus joins the Landes and the Pyrénées-Atlantiques. This alert concerns in particular the confluence between the Dordogne and the Garonne. Of “maritime overflows” important are expected in the area of Bordeaux and Libourne, reports the prefecture.
The municipalities that risk being affected by floods are therefore Bayon-sur-Gironde, Ambès, Bassens, Libourne and Bordeaux according to Vigicrues. The Gironde prefecture recommends being careful near waterways and not to venture onto a flooded road.
In a press release, the Gironde department specifies that it has strengthened its on-call system on the entire road network. Its rapid intervention teams are doubled in the sectors of Médoc, Haute Gironde, Graves Entre-deux-mers, Libournais du and Sud Gironde. Nearly fifty agents are mobilized to deal with the unexpected.
