Bodydays points out the urgency of opening up fitness businesses to promote health and maintain the industry
Vienna (OTS) – Bodydays owner Gerdschi (Ing.Gerhard Laister, MSc) demonstrated with around 35 group fitness trainers and course participants for the early opening of fitness companies under the motto #GesundheitBendetFitness. “A closed fitness industry costs more lives than it saves,” says Gerdschi.
“It is 5 to 12 o’clock for the local fitness industry – let’s save lives together, let’s keep fit.”
All health experts attest that regular fitness training promotes health: obesity can be reduced, stress is reduced and cardiovascular diseases are prevented.
With around 40% in Austria, the number 1 cause of death is the group of cardiovascular diseases. Fitness as a preventive option is specifically prevented by the government. Regular fitness training also strengthens the immune system, which leads to easier disease courses in Covid infections.
The promotions advertised by the government are for the most part not applicable to the fitness industry, and moreover: “The health of our guests cannot be bought back with sales substitutes,” said Gerdschi. The fixed cost subsidy 1 often fails because the loss of sales is not counted if membership fees are necessarily collected, the payment of which is added at the end of the term. Short-time work is not a subsidy, but a loan to the AMS. The VAT cut does not affect the fitness industry, although fitness specifically promotes health. The fixed cost subsidy 2 is only available if no sales compensation has been received. The credit protection is not a promotion, but only protection for banks, should the company go bankrupt.
The industry representatives for the fitness industry do not want to hold discussions, nor do they represent the industry in a worthy manner in front of political decision-makers. “A newspaper article about the ‘forgotten industry’ and outdoor courses with a maximum of 6 people is still the best performance by the representatives of the Chamber of Commerce,” said Gerdschi.
Bodydays founder Gerdschi has been gaining experience in group fitness since 1998 and has taught over 10,000 courses himself. Fitness and group fitness are especially Covid-Supersafe. So far, no cluster has been reported in the fitness area, disinfectants and hygiene have always been standard and the Covid prevention concept almost mirrors normal operation. The indoor challenge of aerosols can be regulated by recommending 35m³ air circulation per person per hour. Self-assembly kits are already available for schools for ventilation systems. Experts agree that the main problem of prevention is not the measures but the lack of implementation by those affected. Trainers are always responsible to ensure compliance with the measures and actively ensure safety.
Before the demonstration was completed, a short group fitness course was held in front of Messe Wien Hall A with exercises from the areas of Zumba Fitness, Hiit The Beat – Breakletics, Piloxing and Back Fit – while maintaining distances and wearing an MNS mask Falling below. The demonstration train then moved to the mass tests at the fair and had a smear done.
The demonstration was held in compliance with a strict Covid-19 concept of measures.
