The brothers shot and killed a young woman who was married to a Dalit man. The incident took place in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district. After killing his sister, the brothers buried his body on their own farm. One of the brothers was arrested by police. Two are in hiding.
The victim was identified as Chandni Kashyap, 23. Chandni was living with her husband Arjun Kumar in East Delhi. Arjun, 25, works for a private company.
According to police, the brothers, Sunil, Sushil and Sudhir, went to Delhi on November 17 to meet Chandini, who was taken to her home in Uttar Pradesh.
Chandini married Arjun in June this year despite family opposition. Both were neighbors. Arjun said that after the brothers took Chandini home, he did not even get on the phone and called Chandini’s relative. The relatives said contradictory things. One said Chandini had committed suicide while another said Chandini had married someone else. Arjun said he then approached the police.
When Arjun’s complaint was received, he was initially charged with kidnapping under section 365. After the murder was confirmed, he was charged with murder under Section 302. East Delhi DCP Jasmeet Singh said one of the accused has been arrested and the search is on for two more.
