As Christmas is just around the corner, the sales numbers for November have just fallen, and that’s not going to please Sony and Microsoft management much.
Nintendo Switch: best-selling console in 2 years
If the success of the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X / S knows an undeniable subject, the two consoles, released last month, are not the best-selling consoles in November 2020. Indeed, another console, older , has managed to maintain its position against the two new gen behemoths: the Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch had already managed to break sales records for the PS4 and Xbox in China, one of the most lucrative markets. With Christmas looming, there’s no doubt that the Switch will be the best-selling next-gen console in the world. Most of its licenses are also in business, since the recent Animal Crossing : New Horizons also explodes many records, and this, long after its release.
During the month of November, the console of the Japanese giant has exceeded 1.35 million units sold worldwide. Over the year 2020, this increases its number of sales to 6.92 million. A sales record over its competitors that the Switch holds for more than 24 months now ! And it will not get better with the outings of the month, with games like Doom Eternal, Immortals Fenyx Rising or John Wick Hex, where we still find the actor Keanu Reeves, already present to the casting of the Cyberpunk 2077 juggernaut.
Obviously, the fact that the new gen consoles from Microsoft and Sony were released between November 12 and November 19, and that the stocks were extremely limited, this left a large place for the Nintendo Switch, more present on the market and less expensive.
The next-gen console sale is worth it
A success on all points for the Japanese manufacturer. There where the Nintendo Wii U was a monumental oven, the revenge is now complete. The marketing director of the American branch of Nintendo, Nick Chavez, was also pleased with the sales figures of its console internationally.
Nintendo Switch offers a unique proposition for shoppers this holiday season with the ability to play on the TV or portably in handheld mode. We continue to see unprecedented demand for Nintendo Switch, and we are pleased that people of all ages and gaming skill levels will be experiencing Nintendo Switch this holiday and beyond.
The question that everyone is asking is obviously that of gifts under the tree. Nintendo’s console has already had the opportunity to prove itself over several years, where its competitors at Sony and Microsoft have just arrived on the market. Lots of focus are waiting for Christmas to be able to offer or afford one of the new next-gen consoles. We will have to wait a few more days to find out.
