Marta Bassino proves that she is currently the best giantist in the world. Already victorious at the start of the season in Sölden, the Italian has doubled the bet under the big snowflakes of Courchevel. Second on the first track, the Transalpine completed a second round of high quality to win with half a second ahead of the Swedish Sara Hector and the Slovak Petra Vlhova. The latter signs for its part a fifth consecutive podium in as many races contested this winter and is already taking off at the top of the general classification.
Two Swiss women in the top 10
As in Sölden, they are two Swiss women in the top 10 and once again, they are Michelle Gisin and Lara Gut-Behrami. Michelle Gisin, at the foot of the podium in Austria, takes 8th place in Savoie and confirms her excellent arrangements at the start of the season. The Ticino is just behind her compatriot. She proves to have found all her sensations as a giant, she who hangs for the first time in nearly three years two consecutive top 10 in the discipline.
Already roughed up in Sölden where she finished 26th, Wendy Holdener was eliminated on the second round in Courchevel. The other Swiss women did not manage to qualify on the initial route. Corinne Suter (34th) and Jasmina Suter (37th) did not miss the qualification for much. Camille Rast took the 47th place. While Mélanie Meillard, for her second giant in the World Cup since her injury at the PyeongChang Olympics, did not manage to let go and finished in 60th place.
