The large slavery exhibition in the Rijksmuseum opens in February. Here 10 personal stories are told to create more awareness about the black page in Dutch history.
It would concern those who lived in slavery and opposed it, but also those who benefited from this system financially, such as Marten and Oopjen. Not a nice time, but that was the case in those days.
However, no stories will be told about the brown slave traders who were not averse to supplying their own people to these figures and that does not make the picture of the slave trade exhibition fair. Obviously, no research is done on this, because little or nothing is known about these figures and they have not had themselves portrayed. When will this slavery crap stop?
People would rather consider the current human traffickers who send people from their own continent, for a lot of money in rickety boats to sea with the most terrible consequences you can imagine and we are talking about this century where people seem so politically correct by to dive into the past over and over again.
