CFC Benidorm changes its name

More than important news for Benidormense football. CF Calvari de Benidorm will start a new season in Preferente, the second in the history of the Alicante club, with a name change that evokes past times full of successes for local soccer. From this moment on, the CFC Benidorm will be history and will begin to be called CF Benidorm.

The nomenclature change is caused by the intention of professionalize its structure social, sports and managerial, in addition to working in the short term to promote to Third Division. Even so, in the Valencian Community Soccer Federation (FFCV) it has been registered as Racing Club de Fútbol Benidorm since it was mandatory to place an “adjective”, as indicated by the Benidormense entity.

The club’s management, headed by President José Santiago, seeks to exploit the name of the city. “The Benidorm brand is what we are most proud ofWe have always tried and will continue with our work philosophy of having the top athletes in our city in our sports structures, as well as exploiting the Benidorm brand in all matches, tournaments, trips, etc. that the club carry out ”, they point out from the club in their official statement.

In this way, football in Benidorms now has two great projects with the same objective: to promote to national football. A CF Benidorm on the rise after three seasons full of sporting successes; and a Benidorm CD that, after merging with At. City of Benidorm, has a quarry at the highest level to take advantage of young and local talent. Both will play in the same Preferential group, which will be a crucial test to know the real level of both projects.
