Chelsea took over 21-year-old Kai Havertz in the summer for 80 million euros from Bayer Leverkusen. The midfielder immediately became important to the Blues, but missed three games in November due to a corona infection.
“It was a very severe flu attack for me personally,” says Havertz. “I can absolutely understand why I can end this badly for certain people.”
“Before I thought it wasn’t all that bad, but now I understand that it can be very difficult for people who are already ill, for example. We have to take care of each other. It was a very difficult period for me.”
The German also admitted that it took a long time to regain all his strength. “If you have done nothing at all for 2.5 weeks and you then resume training, it will seem like you have never played football”, says Havertz.
“It took two to three weeks to get back to 100 percent afterwards. I’ve now started again in three races and I feel good. It took a long time – a month and a half in total – to get back all the way, but now I’m I so far. “
